北亿纤通推出的OSFP是一种新型的可插拔形式，拥有8条高速电子通道，最初支持400gbps(8×50g)。它比QSFP稍宽稍深，但仍然IU面板可以支持32个OSFP接口，每1U可支持12.8 Tbps。
400G光学器件需要比100G光学器件更多的功耗，其中许多光器件不适合现有的QSFP封装。根据特定的400G光学技术，初始功率范围从7.5瓦到15瓦。
OSFP有一个集成的散热器，极大地提高了散热性能，并使模块在常规气流的开关机箱中可提供高达15W的功率。
